WASTE RECOVERY:

USING WASTE AS AN INPUT MATERIAL TO CREATE PRODUCT OF VALUE

This may sound complicated...it's really not. Many people associate waste recovery with commercial and industrial level activities. Surprise! We have the ability to recover waste right at home!

Food waste, is the second highest level of waste occupying our landfill sites today. In addition to taking up space, the rotting food produces harmful methane gas which is one of the main contributors to global warming and climate change. How can we prevent this? ...through a process called COMPOSTING.

R&D Diversions Ltd. is excited to have recently partnered with Grenfell University to obtain an industrial sized Brome Composter. The machine (we call her "Big Bertha") has the capability to process 100 tonnes of organic waste per year...and turn it into compost! Compost is an amazing soil amendment that promotes aeration and water drainage while preventing erosion, strengthening soil structure and providing nutrients to plants and vegetation. To get a look at Big Bertha, visit our Facebook page (@cornerbrook11).

And so it begins...a third waste stream commencing in Western Newfoundland - EXCITING!! As the project moves forward, we will provide you with our progress report...and hopefully receive an A+...until then, keep in touch to let us know if there's anything we can help you with!
